A Man Convinced Against His Will….

Forty-seven years of Islamic rule. Zero loyalty.

By Mike Arnold

A wise old man once told me, “A man convinced against his will is of the same opinion still.”

As I write this, Iranians are dancing in the streets. Dancing — an act the Islamic Republic criminalized in 1979 because clerics declared it sinful. For forty-seven years, women have been beaten, imprisoned, and killed for showing their hair. Dissidents have been tortured. Apostates executed. An entire nation held at gunpoint by men who claimed to speak for God.

And the moment the regime wobbled — the moment American and Israeli strikes hit and the boot lifted — the people showed the world what they really think.

They tore down surveillance cameras. They set fire to mosques. They danced. Young men stood in the smoke and shouted “I love Trump.” Millions poured into the streets across all 31 provinces.

They were not mourning the regime. They were celebrating its destruction.

Think about that.

Forty-Seven Years

Forty-seven years of total control. Total enforcement. Every school, every court, every newspaper, every mosque, every morality patrol — all pointed in one direction. An entire generation born under Islamic rule, raised under Islamic rule, educated under Islamic rule, punished under Islamic rule. They never knew anything else.

And they hated it.

They hated it so much that the moment the grip loosened, they danced in the ashes. They hated it so much that when foreign bombs fell on government buildings, they cheered. They hated it so much that they poured into the streets knowing — knowing — that the regime would kill them for it.

And the regime did kill them. More than thirty thousand in forty-eight hours in January alone — the deadliest use of gunfire against civilians since the Nazis’ Babi Yar massacre in 1941. Security forces on rooftops shot protesters in the head and chest. They entered hospitals and murdered the wounded in their beds. They dragged corpses from morgues so families couldn’t bury their dead.

And still the people came.

Because a man convinced against his will is of the same opinion still. You can hold a gun to someone’s head for half a century. You can control what they wear, what they say, what they read, what they believe, who they marry, how they pray. You can kill anyone who steps out of line. You can build an entire civilization on fear.

And the day the fear breaks, you have nothing. Because you never had loyalty. You only had compliance. And compliance without conviction is a prison — not a nation.

What Iran Reveals

The implications of what is happening in Iran should terrify every advocate of political Islam on earth.

You can raise the black flag across continents. You can conquer territory from North Africa to Southeast Asia. You can force women into submission and execute apostates and silence every critic and control every institution for nearly half a century.

And it doesn’t work.

The human heart still says no.

Iranian women — born, raised, and punished under total Islamic governance their entire lives — still resist. Not because someone smuggled in Western propaganda. Because something deeper than indoctrination lives inside every human being. Call it conscience. Call it dignity. Call it the image of God. It cannot be legislated away. It cannot be beaten out. It will not submit.

This is what the playbook cannot account for. Islam as a governing system can conquer. It can enforce. It can hold territory for generations. But it cannot win hearts. And a system that holds people only through fear will always — always — collapse when the fear subsides.

Every jihadi recruiter, every sharia advocate, every radical imam watching the streets of Tehran right now is seeing the future of their project. Not in decades. Now.

The Lesson for Nigeria

Nigeria is watching whether it knows it or not.

The same ideology that held Iran for forty-seven years is advancing across northern Nigeria. The same playbook — control the courts, control the schools, control the military, silence dissent, criminalize resistance — is being executed in real time. Twelve states already under criminal sharia. A president who ran on a Muslim-Muslim ticket. Millions displaced. More than 100,000 killed. Critics imprisoned.

But Iran just showed the world the expiration date on that strategy.

You can hold a nation by force. You cannot hold it forever. And the longer you squeeze, the more violent the reckoning when the grip finally breaks.

Nigeria still has a window. Nigeria still has a free south. Nigeria still has millions of people who have not yet been conquered.

Iran’s window closed in 1979. It took forty-seven years, tens of thousands dead, and American bombs falling on Tehran to pry it back open.

Don’t wait for bombs to free you. Don’t wait forty-seven years to dance.
