Academies opened 2020 · Free education and feeding every school day · Abuja, Nigeria
In 2019, founder Mike Arnold stumbled into a displacement camp in Nigeria's capital city — filled with survivors of a massacre 500 miles away. They had nothing. No water, no food, no medicine, no shelter.
He met a school principal who had lost everything. When he asked how he could help, she didn't ask for food or water.
She said: "Help me teach these children. With an education they will have the strength to resist the recruiters. They will have a vision and a path out of here."
Her name is Ms. Hanatu. That conversation started Arise Academies.

Education and feeding combined for one child. Monthly giving helps most — it lets us plan, hire teachers, and keep the doors open.
