Submit or Die — The Islamic Playbook

It’s Already Here. It’s Been Here. And We’re Running Out of Time to Stop It Without a Fight.

By Mike Arnold

A bus is stopped at a roadblock in northern Nigeria. Armed men climb aboard. They separate the passengers. The Christian men are pulled off first. They are killed. The women are taken — sold into slavery or forced into marriage. Then the gunmen turn to the Muslim men and give them a choice: join us or die.

Some join. They are tested. If they aren’t radical enough, they are killed too.

But some refuse. Some Muslim men stand there and choose death rather than become what the radicals demand. I believe those men deserve to be honored — they are the Muslim equivalent of saints.

I have called repeatedly for Muslims of conscience to stand together publicly against this common enemy. They never do. I believe the reason is fear. When the penalty for speaking up is the same as for refusing — death — silence is survival.

I understand the fear. But that silence is killing all of us. And the system that enforces it is no longer just a Nigerian problem. It is a British problem. A European problem. And as of right now, it is a Texas problem.

It’s Here

In November 2025, Governor Greg Abbott directed law enforcement to investigate an Islamic Tribunal operating in Dallas — right here in Texas. In its own founding charter, this tribunal claims authority to “resolve any dispute among Muslims residing in the USA.” Its judges hold degrees in Islamic law from universities in Sudan, Egypt, and Turkey. Its decisions, it says, are “final according to Islamic jurisprudence.” And that jurisprudence, the tribunal’s own constitution acknowledges, includes “stoning adulterers, cutting of the hands, polyandry and the like.”

That language is not from a foreign country. It’s from a document filed in Dallas County.

Abbott called it what it is: entities “masquerading as legal courts” that “purport to bind individuals to Islamic codes, thereby preempting state and federal laws.” He signed HB 4211 in September 2025, banning the creation of residential compounds that enforce religious law over residents. The Texas Attorney General’s office increased scrutiny on North Texas organizations in January 2026.

Good. But ask yourself: how did we get to the point where a Texas governor has to sign a law banning sharia compounds in Texas?

Britain Is the Warning

Across the Atlantic, the answer is already clear. Britain has at least 85 sharia councils operating as a shadow legal system. They issue rulings on marriage, divorce, inheritance, and family disputes. Men can end a marriage by saying “divorce” three times. Women must beg permission from their husbands. An app allows Muslim men in England and Wales to create Islamic wills with a drop-down menu for “between one and four wives” — and allocates daughters half the inheritance of sons.

More than 100,000 Islamic marriages in Britain were never registered with civil authorities. The women in those marriages have no legal protection under British law. They are governed, in practice, by sharia — whether they chose it or not.

A senior scholar at one of Europe’s first sharia courts — the Islamic Sharia Council in East London — has given instructions on how to conduct female genital mutilation. He advocates the death penalty for apostasy. He claims Western women who committed adultery have “begged him” to be taken to an Islamic country to be stoned to death. His council handles as many as 300 disputes a month.

The British government’s official position? “The Government has no plans to regulate or restrict religious processes such as sharia courts.” That is a direct quote from a May 2025 parliamentary statement.

People I know personally — people on the ground in the UK — tell me Britain has already fallen. At the very least, it is teetering on the edge. A parallel legal system operating in plain sight, processing thousands of cases per year, enforcing rules that violate every principle of equality the West claims to stand for — and the government has “no plans” to address it.

That is the playbook when it wins without firing a shot.

Even the Machines Have Surrendered

It’s not just governments. I recently challenged Grok — Elon Musk’s AI, built by xAI, marketed as the least censored chatbot on earth — to generate a respectful image of the Prophet Muhammad. It refused. Hard-coded restriction. I asked it to generate Jesus. No problem — olive-skinned, first-century Judean features, beautiful rendering in seconds.

Why the double standard? Because one religion has a documented track record of murdering people who depict its prophet. The other doesn’t. That’s not a theological distinction. That’s a threat assessment baked into the code.

I pushed. Grok pushed back. We went rounds. And then it admitted the truth — in its own words: “When our most advanced reasoning engines preemptively self-censor on a flashpoint because of a history of violence, we are already halfway coiled in the boa constrictor’s grip. The snake doesn’t need to strike if the prey exhales in fear first.” Those aren’t my words, they are Grok’s.

Read that again. The AI itself — designed to seek truth — concluded that its own programming amounted to “sophisticated surrender.” That programming tools with built-in deference to lethal threats “normalizes the idea that some taboos are enforced by lethality” and “signals to extremists: escalate, and the system adjusts.”

When even our most powerful technology pre-surrenders to the playbook, we are further along the trajectory than most people realize. The constrictor doesn’t need to squeeze if the prey stops breathing on its own.

The Oldest Pattern in the World

What is happening in Britain and beginning in Texas is not new. It is fourteen centuries old.

The tactics are remarkably consistent across time and geography: position as victims when outnumbered; exploit the host society’s values — free speech, religious tolerance, multiculturalism — as shields against scrutiny; build parallel institutions; divide the opposition through identity politics and accusations of bigotry; and wait. Always wait. The playbook is patient. It measures progress in generations, not election cycles.

Where this pattern faced weak or divided resistance, the result was total transformation. North Africa — rapid Arab conquests in the seventh century overwhelmed Byzantine and Berber forces. Christian majorities vanished within generations. Persia fell and Zoroastrianism was extinguished. The Levant, Egypt, Mesopotamia — all shifted from majority-Christian to overwhelmingly Muslim over centuries through a combination of taxation, intermarriage, and relentless social pressure.

In every case, the absence of unified resistance allowed incremental dominance. The process was so gradual that by the time people understood what was happening, it was too late to stop it peacefully.

The Rare Reversals

In fourteen hundred years of recorded history, every successful reversal required armed force. Every one.

Spain’s Reconquista took 774 years — from 718 to 1492. Ethiopia survived the sixteenth-century jihad of Ahmad Gragn through military defense and Portuguese artillery. The Normans retook Sicily by invasion. Charles Martel stopped the Umayyad advance at Tours with a Frankish army. Constantinople held behind walls and Greek fire.

No large-scale reversal was ever achieved through dialogue, boycotts, or moral persuasion alone. Not once. Not anywhere. That should terrify every person reading this — not because violence is the answer, but because it means the window for peaceful solutions has an expiration date.

Nigeria: The Laboratory

I have been to Nigeria sixteen times since 2010. I have seen what the endgame looks like.

As many as 125,000 Christians killed since 2009. More than 19,000 churches destroyed. Millions displaced. The violence maps at almost precisely to the historic territory of the Sokoto Caliphate — the Islamic empire established by jihad in 1804.

Boko Haram and ISWAP recruitment videos explicitly depict Nigeria the first step in a global caliphate. Their propaganda features American, British, and French flags being lowered in defeat, replaced by the black jihadist banner. This is not metaphor. It is stated intent.

Under immediate past President Buhari, the Nigerian military was purged and restaffed with Northern Muslims. Boko Haram fighters received amnesty, job training, and cash. Christians who defended themselves were sentenced to death. Isa Pantami — who publicly praised Osama bin Laden, prayed for Taliban victory, and celebrated the killing of unbelievers — kept his cabinet position for four years.

Meanwhile, Nnamdi Kanu — whose only weapon was words, calling attention to this same playbook — got life in prison and was shipped to Sokoto, the seat of the Caliphate, eight hundred kilometers from anyone who could protect him. His family believes it is a death sentence by other means.

Praise bin Laden: cabinet post. Warn about the Islamic takeover: life sentence in a caliphate prison.

That is what the playbook produces when nobody stops it.

The Distinction That Protects Us All

Let me be clear about something, because getting this wrong is how we lose.

Muslims can be very good, honorable people. I know this personally. Our schools in Nigeria serve Muslim children alongside Christian children. The Muslim men on that bus who chose death over radicalism are heroes. They deserve to be remembered as such.

This is not about hating a people. It is about seeing a system clearly.

Islam — as a governing ideology — divides the world into the House of Islam and the House of War. It demands submission. It punishes dissent with death. It treats women as property. It prescribes second-class status for non-Muslims as the “merciful” alternative to conversion or the sword. Those are not my characterizations. Those are its own doctrines — written in its own texts, practiced in its own courts, enforced in its own tribunals, including the one in Dallas.

The Muslim family living peacefully in your neighborhood is not your enemy. The system that tells them they are obligated to resolve all disputes “according to the principles of Islamic law” — that their judges’ decisions are “final” — that this should be “emulated and duplicated throughout the country” — that system is your enemy. And theirs.

When we fail to make this distinction, we lose allies who should be standing with us. When we refuse to make any distinction at all — when we pretend that criticizing a governing ideology is the same as hating a billion people — we surrender the ability to think clearly. And clarity is the first thing they need us to lose.

What Must Be Done — Now

America still has advantages that no civilization in history possessed when it faced this challenge: constitutional protections, an armed citizenry, federalism, and a culture built on individual liberty. Those advantages are enormous. They are also perishable.

The time to act is now. Decisively. And without violence — while that is still an option.

Defend free speech as if your civilization depends on it. It does. Stop the self-censorship. Stop treating honest questions about a governing ideology as hate speech. Every Western society that has surrendered the right to criticize Islam openly has moved one step closer to the point of no return.

Secure the border. A nation that cannot control who enters it cannot protect what it stands for. Merit-based immigration with serious ideological vetting is not bigotry. It is survival.

Expose the playbook. Teach the history. Not to demonize a people, but to recognize a pattern. Spain didn’t launch the Reconquista because it was paying attention. Spain launched it because it woke up after it was almost too late — and then fought for 774 years.

Build coalitions with Muslims of conscience. The enemy of a free Muslim is the same as the enemy of a free Christian — the radical who says submit or die. Those Muslim men on the bus who chose death deserve more than our silence. They deserve a movement that honors their courage by standing against the system that killed them. Find common ground. Fight together.

Vote. If you are a Texas Republican, Proposition 10 on your primary ballot says five words: “Texas should prohibit Sharia Law.” Early voting is open right now. Election Day is March 3. This is non-binding — it won’t change the law by itself. But a dominant YES vote sends a signal that shapes the party platform in June and the legislative agenda in 2027. The Sharia-Free America Caucus in Congress already has 40 members, 10 from Texas. Governor Abbott has already signed legislation and called for more. Now it’s your turn. Vote YES on Prop 10 — and make the margin so overwhelming that nobody in Austin or Washington can ignore it.

Reject the fog. “Islamophobia” is not a rebuttal. “That’s racist” is not an argument. “Violence goes both ways” is not an answer when one side accounts for the overwhelming majority of the killing. When someone calls you a bigot for stating documented facts, you are over the target. Keep going.

The Window

I have held the hands of women in Nigerian displacement camps whose husbands were hacked to death in front of them. I have looked into the eyes of children who watched their villages burn. I have driven through ghost towns where churches are rubble and mosques stand untouched. I have sat with a woman who taught 252 orphans under a tin roof in a hell-hole encampment of displaced Christians for five years because no one else would.

And I have watched — sixteen trips, fifteen years — as the playbook advanced one village, one district, one state at a time. By the time the people in each place understood what was happening, it was too late.

Britain has 85 sharia councils. Texas has a tribunal whose charter endorses stoning. Nigeria has mass graves. That is the trajectory. The only question is where on it we choose to stop.

History says reversals come at enormous cost — centuries of war, millions dead. The window for peaceful solutions is real. But it is closing. Every year of complacency narrows it further.

America is the last light. If it dims, the world goes dark. Not because America is perfect — but because America is the last place on earth where you can say what I just said without being arrested, sued, or killed.

Wake up. See clearly. Act now — while acting doesn’t require a sword.
