The Demonic Mirror
How Islam Inverts Everything God Designed
By Mike Arnold | #EarthShaker
Here’s something that hit me the other day. Islam means submission. The first thing God ever told man to do was take dominion. Those are exact opposites — not variations of the same idea, not different roads to the same place. One says receive authority and go rule. The other says surrender authority and obey. That’s not a coincidence. That’s a counterfeit. And once you see it, you can’t unsee it — because it turns out this isn’t the only place the mirror shows up.
Two Ways
Before anyone called it “the Church” — before anyone called it “Christianity” — the early believers called their movement something simpler. The Way. Just that. Where you walked, and where it took you. Now here’s something that should stop you cold: Sharia is Arabic for “the way.” Literally, “the path to water.” The followers of Jesus called their movement the Way. Islam named its legal-religious system the way. Two systems. Same name. One leads to the Father. The other leads to a locked door. That is not an accident. That is a blueprint.
Dominion and Submission
When God speaks to the first man He’s ever made — the one He just breathed life into — the very first thing He says is radah: dominion. Rule. Take authority. You are my image bearer and I’m handing you the keys. Not a chain. Keys. Think about what that means. From the very first moment of human history, God’s design was to distribute His authority downward — from Creator to sons and daughters, outward into every sphere of the created order. That’s not a religious assignment. That’s a royal one.
Now flip it. Islam — aslama — means to hand over your authority, surrender your will, submit to the system. You don’t hold the keys. You obey the man who does. Dominion flows down, God to man, distributed across every image bearer. Submission flows up, man to system, concentrated in the hands of the caliph, the sultan, the imam. What God intended to spread across the whole of humanity, Islam consolidates into a hierarchy of control. God gave us dominion. Islam demands submission. That’s not a variation. That’s an inversion.
The Body — and Its Counterfeit
The mirror doesn’t stop there. When Jesus said He would build His “church,” He used a specific Greek word that His audience — living under Roman occupation — understood immediately. Ekklesia. It didn’t mean a building, a denomination, or a Sunday morning service. In the Roman world, the ekklesia was the governing council — citizens called out from the general population and given authority to carry the rule of the empire into their city. When Jesus said “I will build my ekklesia,” He wasn’t announcing a religion. He was announcing a new governing order. Sons and daughters of the King, called out and commissioned to carry the BASILEIA — the royal power, kingship, dominion and rule of God — into every sphere of human life. The ekklesia was always meant to be a governing force, not a waiting room.
Now meet its counterfeit. Islam has the ummah — the community of believers, the gathered body of those who have submitted. Where the ekklesia is called out and sent with delegated authority, the ummah is gathered and held under centralized control. Where the ekklesia carries the King’s authority downward into the world, the ummah channels submission upward to the system. The ekklesia is a liberation. The ummah, as designed under Sharia, is a mechanism of compliance. Two words for the gathered people. One empowers. One controls. And just like dominion and submission, just like The Way and sharia — same concept, same scope, same ambition to cover every sphere of human life. Opposite spirit. Opposite fruit. That’s not a theological footnote. That’s the whole ballgame.
What Each One Actually Looks Like
The early ekklesia walked the Way broke, barefoot, and on fire. They shared everything, healed the sick, cast out demons, planted communities of Kingdom authority in cities that wanted them dead, and died singing. No army, no caliphate, no legal code enforced by men with whips — just the Holy Spirit living inside ordinary people who’d met the risen Jesus, carrying the BASILEIA of God into every mountain of culture they touched. They turned Rome upside down with that.
Now look at Sharia. Submit or be conquered. It is not merely a religious system — it is a totalizing architecture designed to bring every sphere of human life under submission to an earthly power structure. In the Muslim “way,” wherever Sharia takes hold, that architecture is enforced with flogging, amputation, and stoning. It has looked the same in every nation, in every century, in every culture where it has had the power to do so — because the system doesn’t change. Only the map does. Leave and you’re a dead man. Criticize and you’re a dead man. Non-Muslims taxed for the privilege of surviving. Women as legal subordinates. This is not a fringe expression of a peaceful religion — this is the system operating exactly as designed. The ekklesia follows the Way to bring the Kingdom. The ummah follows Sharia to bring Islam. Same ambition. Same scope. Opposite fruit.
The Door
Here’s where it stops being a cracked mirror and becomes something fully demonic. In the Garden, Adam walked with God — not subject to God, but with God, Father and son in the cool of the day, talking, knowing, the original model of what it means to be both an image bearer and a dominion bearer. That relationship broke. Every prophet pointed toward restoring it. Everything Jesus did — everything — was to tear down the stronghold that separated man from his Father. The veil tore, top to bottom. God ripped it Himself. “My sheep hear My voice.” Direct. Personal. The Holy Spirit living inside you, God speaking rhema into your spirit — not through a system, not through a chain of scholars with the authority to interpret and control, but to you, His son, His daughter, by name.
Islam says that’s impossible. Not unlikely — doctrinally impossible. Allah does not speak to individuals. Revelation is closed. The door is shut. There is no indwelling Spirit, no personal relationship, no walk in the garden. There is text, and men who interpret text, and you obey the men. That is not a different path to the same God. That is a stronghold rebuilt on the very ground Jesus died to clear. Jesus tore the veil open. Islam built it back up and put armed guards in front of it. “I no longer call you servants,” Jesus said. “I have called you friends.” That’s the difference. That’s the whole difference. He’s not asking for your submission. He’s calling you by name.
The Evidence
The most hostile Islamic government on the planet has spent fifty years constructing the most complete submission state on earth — and it cannot shut the door God opened. Iran’s own Minister of Intelligence has admitted that “conversions are happening right under our eyes,” and tasked Islamic seminaries with combating what he called “mass conversions to Christianity across the country.” Independent surveys show only 40% of Iranians still identify as Muslims. More than 1.2 million believers are gathering in secret house churches. Fifty thousand of the country’s 75,000 mosques have closed. Youth are converting in Qom — the epicenter of Islamic scholarship in Iran. Dreams, visions, Jesus appearing to people in the night, Muslims waking up changed and unable to explain it. Islam can compel the body. It cannot stop a dream.
The Mirror Shatters
The early ekklesia knew which Way to walk. They walked it with love, passion, and sacrificial service — and they established Kingdom authority across the known world, not through the sword, not through political seizure, but through the unstoppable force of sons and daughters who knew who they were and Whose they were. The question for today is whether we still know it. Iran is answering that question without a missionary program, without a building, without an institution — just God, moving through His people, doing what He has always done.
The demonic mirror is shattering. And behind the glass is a face. And He is calling you by name.
Rise.
