The Mahdi’s Foot Soldiers
How the Fulani Under Caliphate Rule Have Captured Every Sphere of Influence in Nigeria
By Mike Arnold
In addition to being the “King of the Muslims” of West Africa, the Sultan of Sokoto (or is it the Mahdi?) sits at the apex of the Fulani — a tribe of 40 million spread across twenty African countries who migrated into what is now Nigeria from Senegal, conquered the native peoples in 1804, and have been ruling them ever since.
Sunni Muslims believe a final messianic figure called the Mahdi will rise at the end of days, conquer the world, and impose Islamic rule everywhere. He cannot do it alone. Today, Sokoto is the sole remaining caliphate that fits prophecy.
The prophecy also says he will lead an army. That role is being fulfilled by the Fulani tribe.
In Islamic theology, the world is two halves. Dar al-Islam — the territory of Islam. Dar al-Harb — the House of War, everywhere Islam does not yet rule. Permanent peace between them is forbidden. Every sphere not yet under Islamic governance is, to them, an active combat zone.
They have already taken over much of Nigeria, to build the staging ground for the global jihad that comes next.
The state. The courts. The banks. The schools. The press. The land. And in the bush, with AK-47s. All dominated by the Sultan’s Fulani footsoldiers.
Every sphere. Every lever. Every door. One tribe. One throne. One prophesied mission.
The seat
Sokoto. The Fulani throne dan Fodio raised in 1804 to deliver the Mahdi.
Today the throne belongs to Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III — 20th heir of dan Fodio, claimed descendant of the Prophet through the Quraysh, Commander of the Faithful, spiritual ruler of 108 million Muslims.
He runs every Fulani institution that matters. The Sultanate Council. The Northern Traditional Rulers Council. The Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs. Jama’atu Nasril Islam. Miyetti Allah.
Religious authority. Political authority. Military authority. Concentrated in one man and one tribe. Just like Muhammad.
Every other sphere of influence — every battlefield — answers to this throne.
How they do it
They kill the ones who refuse to submit. The rest live under Fulani rule and feed the system.
The Northern institutions the Western press calls “Hausa-Fulani” answer to one address. The Hausa serve. The Fulani rule. The Sultan sits at the top.
Submission or death. The model has worked for 222 years.
His reach
Forty million Fulani. Twenty countries. Senegal to Sudan. Mauritania to the Central African Republic.
They are not Nigerian. They migrated from Futa Toro in the fifteenth century. They conquered the Hausa kingdoms in 1804. They founded the only Sunni caliphate left on earth. They sit on the throne in Sokoto. They run the Sahel.
Then 2020 came. Mali coup. Burkina Faso coup. Niger coup. Guinea coup. Chad transition. France expelled. Western counter-terror infrastructure dismantled. In five years, the Sahel went from the most watched stretch of jihadi geography on earth to the most lightly governed strategic space in the world. The black-banner networks — JNIM, AQIM, ISIS-Sahel, Katiba Macina — exploded in size and territory. Every one of them heavily Fulani-recruited. Every one of them running the 1804 Sokoto playbook.
And now they are pouring back into Nigeria, an army from the East.
ECOWAS protocol on free movement throws the borders open. Fulani pastoralists from Niger, Chad, Cameroon, Mali, and Burkina Faso walk across without papers. Hundreds of thousands of them — heavily armed, hardened by years in Sahel jihadi theaters — are flooding into the Middle Belt and Christian South right now. Nigerian scholars have a name for it: “Fulanization of the Christian South.”
Prophecy say the Mahdi’s army gathers from the east. Every collapsed Sahel state is feeding cadres into Nigeria. The army from the east is gathering — exactly as the prophecy says it must.
The bush
The vast majority of Christians and peaceful Muslims killed in Nigeria today are killed by Fulani militia.
They roll into villages across the Middle Belt in the dark of night, burn the homes, machete the families, fire AK-47s into those running away. More than 125,000 Christians dead since 2009. 20,000 churches burned. As many as 12 million driven from their fatherlands. The bodies stack faster than the lobbyists and press can hide it.
They wander Nigeria as nomads with their cattle, like they own the place — because in their doctrine, they do. They trample the crops of native farmers. Sometimes to feed the cattle. Sometimes to harass. Sometimes to clear the land for what comes next.
From an American perspective, it is as if bands of Comanche warriors were still roaming the countryside, killing, burning homes and taking scalps, two centuries after the United States was founded — but armed with AK-47s instead of bows and arrows, and with political godfathers supplying and protecting them.
The Western press calls this “farmer-herder clash.” More accurate: farmer-Fulani clash. Even more accurate: an armed foreign tribe massacring the native population on land that has been the natives’ for a thousand years before the Fulani showed up.
Miyetti Allah is the mobilization hub. The Sultan chairs it. The National Security Adviser arms it.
Eight black-banner networks fly his flag on the ground — Boko Haram, ISWAP, Ansaru, Lakurawa, ISIS-Sahel, JNIM, AQIM, the Islamic Movement of Nigeria. Factions that fight each other everywhere else on earth. In Nigeria, they coordinate.
The 1804 Fulani jihad never ended. It institutionalized under British rule. Same tribe, bloodline and doctrine.
The fighters in the Middle Belt today are seven generations of seamless transmission — same families, same emirate networks, same prophetic frame their ancestors carried into 1804.
The Fulani senator in Abuja and the Fulani militia commander in Plateau share a grandfather. The same cleric taught both. They bend a knee to the same Sultan.
Same tribe. Same doctrine. Different uniforms.
The school and the home
They take the children before anyone else can.
Ten million Northern boys are right now inside the almajiri system — pulled from their families at age five or six, embedded in a Fulani cleric’s compound, raised inside the network for the next ten to fifteen years. The teacher becomes the father. The clan becomes the family. The boy belongs to the operation before he can read. The next generation of Fulani foot soldiers, formed.
Sharia controls marriage, inheritance, and child custody across twelve Northern states. Girls disappear into Fulani political-religious dynasties before they are old enough to choose. The next generation of Fulani bloodline, secured.
In December 2024, Tinubu installed Prof. Salisu Shehu — author of Islamization of Knowledge, former Deputy Secretary-General of the Sultan’s own NSCIA — at the head of NERDC, the agency that controls the national curriculum. The man writing what every Nigerian child learns is the top scholar of the boko haram philosophy. He is the Sultan’s man. The next generation of every other Nigerian child, captured.
The schools are the recruiting depot. The curriculum is the indoctrination.
The court
They wrote their own law.
In 1999, General Abdulsalami Abubakar — Fulani military dictator from Minna — decreed Nigeria’s current constitution into law. No referendum. No consent.
It mentions Sharia and other Islamic terms 165 times. Christianity, zero.
Twelve states run full Sharia criminal jurisdiction. Hisbah police enforce religious morality on every street. Federal courts process Christians, Igbo separatists, and Niger Delta militants at industrial rates. They do not process the men killing the Middle Belt.
Under their doctrine, only certain blood is protected. The jihad is legal. Resistance is not.
The state
They run the government.
Two of the last four full-term presidents have been Fulani — Yar’Adua and Buhari. The Fulani political class holds the federal cabinet, the senior military command, the intelligence services, and for decades the central bank.
When Goodluck Jonathan — an accidental Christian president from the Niger Delta — held the line, the threats came fast. In 2012, Buhari told the country plainly: “If what happened in 2011 should again happen in 2015, by the grace of God, the dog and the baboon would all be soaked in blood.” Three years later, with David Axelrod running his campaign and Barack Obama personally pressuring Jonathan to step aside, Buhari took office. The slaughter that followed is still raging.
Today Nuhu Ribadu — Fulani, current National Security Adviser — arms Miyetti Allah out of his own office and calls Fulani jihadis “our brothers.” He runs the Joint Working Group that picks the targets American firepower may strike. American strikes have hit ISIS and nothing else. None of the most bloody killers – his Fulani militia “brothers” – have been targeted.
Operation Safe Corridor “rehabilitates” captured jihadis and turns them loose again.
The Sultan does not need to govern Nigeria. The tribe he heads already does.
The Nigerian military
They run the federal military too.
The Sultan was Brigadier General before he took the throne. Defence Attaché in Pakistan during the height of the War on Terror, with concurrent accreditation to Iran, Iraq, Afghanistan, and Saudi Arabia.
Soon after Sa’ad came home in 2006, an Air Force Dornier 228 mysteriously went down in Benue State. Ten of the thirteen dead were generals — the reform committee Christian President Obasanjo had assembled to clean up the military. The reform died with them. The crash was never seriously investigated.
A few weeks later, the existing Sultan and his heirs were killed in another mysterious plane crash, while the radar was turned off at the Abuja airport. It was declared “human error” in less than 24 hours. Case closed.
Today, the senior officer corps, the war colleges, the Chief of Defence Staff, the Service Chiefs — controlled for decades by the Caliphate-aligned Fulani establishment.
Soldiers disarm defenders and then stand down during Fulani militia attacks on Christian villages. Boko Haram and ISWAP move freely through zones the army “patrols.” When American firepower is finally brought it, Ribadu supposedly identifies the targets, and Fulani militias are never on the list.
The army is the Caliphate’s shield.
The press
They write the story.
Daily Trust and Leadership — the major Northern dailies — print the line. The BBC Hausa Service broadcasts it to 80 million in their own language. The national channels stay quiet under Northern pressure.
The Lagos publicist class — Haroon Ishola Balogun and the network around him — attacks critics by name in English when the Sultan needs cover. Three weeks after his May 7 NIREC speech, articles dropped in The Eagle Online and The Source targeting me for “demonizing Islam.”
In Washington, the FARA-registered lobbying machinery — DCI Group, BGR, Valcour LLC, the Mowers network — shapes how the State Department sees Nigeria. Ribadu signed the biggest contract himself. The bill, roughly $9 million a year, comes out of the federal budget the Fulani control.
The International Crisis Group invented the “farmer-herder conflict driven by climate change” frame and laundered it through every Western outlet until it was the official story.
The world hears what the Sultan wants it to hear. Nothing else.
The vault
They own the money.
Aliko Dangote — Fulani, Africa’s wealthiest man. Owns cement, sugar, salt, oil, and now petroleum.
Abdul Samad Rabiu of BUA — Fulani, second-largest Northern conglomerate. The Fulani banking class has run federal financial regulators for decades.
Chinese mineral extraction in the Sultan’s hereditary territory pulls an estimated nine billion dollars a year. Christian villages are massacred. The land gets cleared. The mining trucks roll in behind.
Kidnapping, sex slavery, banditry-as-a-service, the West African heroin pipeline, cattle rustling, blood minerals — the illicit economy funnels through the Fulani militant networks and feeds the operation.
The war chest is filled with illicit funds. Western sanctions can’t touch it.
The architecture
This is not Nigerian politics. It is a jihad in progress.
The school recruits the soldiers. The court legitimizes the killing. The state protects them. The press hides them. The vault funds them. The Sahel feeds them. The bush deploys them. There are no civilians. By their theology, everything outside their full control is the House of War. The tribe is the army.
When the Mahdi steps forward, religious authority, political authority, and military command will already be unified in one man. Just like Muhammad in Medina. Just like dan Fodio in 1804. Just like the prophecy says.
The army from the east is gathering. The commander is on the throne. Prophesy is playing out. Global jihad comes next.
Wake up.

Which way forward?
Excellent explanation. The during in Nigeria is absolutely dire and can and will only get worse. A horrible genocide of Christians is gathering pace. Only the US seems to have any interest under Trump. But it is too little and already corrupted by Fulani islamists. The world media lies. The BBC (always leftist and pro muslim) lies that the majority of the victims are muslims and that those who try to discuss the genocide if Christians are “far right.” If it is far right to want this evil to stop, then I am far right.
Honestly this is exhaustive appraisal. It’s Big, bigger than I had imagined. The question is Can the world afford to fold her hands? I don’t think so. A problem is half -solved when you know the root cause. Victory is achievable.
